Xiaomi has officially started rolling out the Android 17-based HyperOS 3.1 update. With this update, the Security app finally gets a very useful feature that was previously available only on Chinese Xiaomi devices.
The new Shutdown Confirmation feature has now been enabled for Global and Indian users, adding an extra layer of protection to your phone.
Here’s how it works: once you enable this feature, if your phone is ever stolen, the thief’s first instinct is usually to switch it off. However, when they try to power off the device, they’ll be asked to enter your phone’s lock screen password. Without the correct password, the phone cannot be turned off, allowing you to continue tracking it through Xiaomi’s Find Device feature.
This is a major security improvement because, in most theft cases, the first thing a thief does is power off the phone to prevent it from being located.
The feature is already available on the Xiaomi 17 series, but you can also use it on your Xiaomi, Redmi, or POCO phone as long as it’s running HyperOS 3 or HyperOS 3.1.
Just make sure to update the Security app. I’ve provided the APK download link below—simply install the latest version, and you’ll find the new feature inside the Security app.

Overall, this is a great move by Xiaomi, and it’s nice to see this important security feature finally making its way to Global and Indian devices.
