Install Stock Android AOSP ROM on Xiaomi Mi3, Mi4

Good news for all Xiaomi Mi3 and mi4 users, now they can install the Stock Android 4.4.4 AOSP ROM on their devices. No doubt Mi4 and Mi4 comes with some awesome features and MIUI Rom, but if you are the big fan of stock android and want to taste the same on your device. The AOSP ROM is pure vanilla Android KitKat 4.4.4 and runs on Xiaomi’s kernel compiled from sources which many developers want to be disclosed. So if you interested in the Stock AOSP Rom and want to flash it on your device, here is the complete guide which you can follow on your phone and install the same. The AOSP ROM for Mi 3 is in Chinese but can be easily changed to English language. Also it comes with the Superuser and you don’t need to root you phone.

To install the rom on your device all you need a ROM zip file, Custom recovery and Google apps package. Before following this guide do take the backup of your phone.

How to install Android AOSP ROM on Mi3, Mi4

1. Install Custom Recovery

a) Download Mi4 CWM or Mi3 CWM on your phone

b) After this Go to Setting>Updater or Open Updater App from homescreen.

c) From here Press menu button and then “Select update package”

d) Select the recovery zip and install it.

e) Reboot device

2. Download ROM and Google Apps

a) Download AOSP Mi4 or Mi3 AOSP ROM

b) Download Google apps here

Move both the files on root directory (/sdcard) of your phone

3. Flashing AOSP ROM

a) Reboot your device n recovery mode. Go to Tools > Updater > press Menu key and select ‘Reboot to Recovery mode’

b) Choose ‘System1’ in select system to manage.

c) Select ‘Wipe data/ factory reset’ and confirm to wipe.

d) Select ‘Wipe cache partition’ and confirm.

e) After this Go to ‘mounts and storage’ and select ‘format /system’ option.

f) Now Choose Install Zip From SD CARD ,Then O then Choose the ROM ZIP file and Choose Install

g) Let it install as it generally take 5-8 minutes.

h) Then again select install zip and choose Google Apps zip file.

i) Now go back to recovery main menu and Reboot your phone by selecting ‘reboot system now’.

First boot will take some time. The Language Will Be In Chinese … Follow this guide to change it To english.

a) Go to Settings > About phone, tap on Build number 7 times to enable Developer options.

b) After this the developer option is enabled on your phone, Then go into Developer options and turn it on.

c) Just select the very first options and you have an option for English. Just select the very first options and you have an option for English. See the screenshot below:-

d) Now install MoreLocale 2 form google play store and Open Morelocale 2 and Choose Custom Locale, Choose the language as english and country as india.

Reboot the phone again and enjoy the custom rom on your Mi3 or Mi4
