How to Downgrade Mi 3 MIUI v6 Developer ROM to Stable MIUI ROM

If you recently updated your Xiaomi Mi 3 with the latest MIUI 6 developer ROM and not happy with the new dev rom or facing some issues, and want to go back to the MIUI 5 Stable ROM or Downgrade to MIUI Stable ROM. All the developers roms are the beta version of upcoming MIUI OS and it has some small bugs. The Developer ROMs are updated every week with bug fixes and new features as compared to Stable ROMs. One of our reader installed the MIUI 6 developer version on his Mi 3 and no happy with the rom and want to go back to the stable MIUI 5 rom. Here is the guide for all those users who want to do the same, in this guide we’ll show you how you can downgrade your Xiaomi Mi 3 phone easily and in simple steps.

The guide is pretty simple and all you have to flash the Stable rom on your device from the MI recovery. But before following this guide do take the backup of your Mi3 phone and save the backup file in some safe place. (Read our guide :- Guide to Backup and Restore Xiaomi Mi3 Android)

Downgrade Mi 3 MIUI v6 to Stable Rom

Step 1. Download Stable Full ROM pack for Mi 3 here.

Step 2. Rename the File to update.zip and move the zip file on your phone internal SD card.

Step 3. Launch the Update app on your device and press the Menu button, and select Reboot to recovery mode.

or turn off the phone, press the Volume+ key and the Power button at the same time, wait until the screen wakes.

Step 4. Once your phone is in recovery mode. From the menu select “English”. (use the volume keys to select,and the Power button to confirm).

Step 5. Now from the main menu select “Wipe & Reset” option.

Step 6. From the next screen tap on the “Wipe Cache” and after that “Wipe User Data” and select Yes. Note: When wiping data is at 98%, wait for a while as it takes few minutes to complete.

Step 7. Now go back to the recovery main menu and select “Install Update Zip” option.

Step 8. Select Yes to confirm and the update will begin installing.

Step 9. Once the installation is one reboot your device. Select the option “Reboot to System One (latest)”.

  1. hey there… I would like to downgrade my mi3 back to miui v5 because miui v6 is causing a lot of problems on my phone, the thing is if I wipe all user data, does it wipe the preloaded apps in my phone?
