Install Android 6.0 Marshmallow OTA on Micromax Canvas A1

Google released Android Marshmallow for Nexus devices just a few hours ago and now Android 6.0 is also available for the Android One phone. And Micromax Canvas A1 is the first one who will get this update. The good new is that most of the Micromax Canvas A1 Android One mobile user already get the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. If you are the Micromax Canvas A1 user and want to update your phone, then go to Settings > About Phone > System update and check for the update. If the update is not available for you then you can use the manual method to update your phone. To do this, all you need a Micromax Canvas A1 running on LMY48M firmware with stock recovery. Here in this tutorial we’ll show you how to install the Android 6 OTA update on Canvas A1.

This guide is only for Micromax Canvas A1 non-rooted user who is on the stock recovery. Don’t apply this method on any of other Android one phone or any other android devices. Installing an official update doesn’t voids your device’s warranty, and read all the step very carefully, we won’t be liable if any damage occurs to your device and/or its components.

Update Micromax Canvas A1 with Android 6.0 Marshmallow

Step 1. Download the OTA file Micromax Canvas A1 from here and save the file on your desktop.

Step 2. Backup your phone (Though nothing would be wiped, it’s still better to be safe than sorry)

Step 3. Copy the downloaded OTA file to the root directory of your phone SD card.

Step 4. Reboot the phone in Recovery mode. To do this, Switch off your phone and Press and hold both volume buttons with power button until you see anything on the screen. This is bootloader mode.

Step 5. Once you are in Stic recovery, Select “apply update from sd card”

Step 6. Select the downloaded file which we pasted earlier from the SD Card on the Step 3.

Step 7. Wait till the file is flashed (It takes about 5 – 7 minutes to complete the process)

Step 8. After it’s done select “Reboot to a system now”.

Now your Canvas A1 will reboot tan first boot take sometime apply the changes on the phone. You have Marshmallow on your Canvas A1.

  8. I am trying to update my android one micromax. Initially i get option in software update so i download it from there and then reboot it to install. Just when installation start, android shows error.
    Then i try to install manually and then it also shows same error. Is there any help???

  11. I have LMY48K build installed on my micromax A1. I have not rooted my mobile. I received OTA update for android 6. I tried to install it many time , but on doing install & reboot my mobile just get shutdown and nothing gets install. I need to start my Mobile by pressing power button. I have 1.4 GB space internal storage. Can you guide me to solve the issue to update to android 6

  21. I had update waiting. Ive done it. But its not working properly. None of applications are working. Its not allowing App permission (storage) to most of the apps i downloaded. (Game’s n video player) i do i go back to lollipop..? :/

Hello sir I have updated my micromax canvas a1 with ota update all are done but when it is finished the first boot and on the welcome screen i have selecte my language time and date pattern after that when it is showing yes i m in button and shows that unfortunately Google paly services has stopped working and continues this error i m unable to use my phone it has paused on welcome screen reply plzzz
